At Rest - Adjustable Ring - Ready to Ship

$70.00

“At Rest” is a phrase widely used in Victorian England’s coffin plates. I decided to use it with a sleeping bat to pay homage to that era and also as a gothic revival.

I found it would be fitting to the new mourning coins collection, which is inspired by mourning jewelry and cemeterial symbology. You can read more about the collection at the end of the listing.

Each mourning coin is made out of 950 silver clay, the ring band is made of 925 sterling silver and its fully adjustable, without pinching your skin. You can leave your ring number as a note and I can send it fully adjusted to your size otherwise it will be sent as is (adjusted to US 7).

Carefully created from clay and a wax seal created by yours truly, blackened and hand polished.

Each coin weights around 2gm and measures a little under 0.8”. The earrings will come with a silicone back piece.

The Mourning Coins Collection was made after I’ve finished my masters in mourning jewelry and took inspiration from it. I’ve been studying mourning symbols not only in jewelry but also in cemeteries and I noticed so many delicate symbols and themes involving death that I wished to explore.

That being said the inspiration for this collection also came from wax seals, used for centuries to sign important documents and letters etc.

So I’ve decided to create several wax seals and try them out in metal clay, so it would look more weathered and aged. I loved how the textures worked out, it captured the essence of time and stone. Both reminding us of our own mortality and the ones we love.

Now for the coin part, which was when all made sense for me, I was thinking about Greek mythology, the Charon’s obol, the coin which was placed in or on the mouth of the deceased. That made me want to make an amulet to honor the loss of loved ones but also to keep them closer to us. To make that happen I’ve chosen some of the most common memorial quotes and paired them with cemeterial symbols.

I hope you connect with this “currency” of grief I’ve created and it empowers you by making your journey through grief easier.
